We are thrilled to announce that we have been successful in our application to the National Lottery Community Fund. Over the next three years, the Isle of Kerrera Development Trust will receive £85,584 to deliver a programme of community-led activities on the island, including arts and crafts workshops, a playgroup, music group, book club and cooking classes. The aim of the programme, based on ongoing consultation, is to bring the community together, helping to promote community resilience and alleviate rural/social isolation.

A part-time project coordinator will oversee activity delivery and the setting up of a new temporary venue in an island marquee, whilst the recently acquired Kerrera old school building is renovated into a multi-purpose community facility.

In other good news-  the old school on Kerrera was recently selected as a demonstration project for a national research programme looking at new community asset development models, through the William Grant Foundation. Working with Douglas Westwater of Community Enterprise, the Isle of Kerrera Development Trust will receive funding for a new Technical Project Manager to lead them through the project.

Aideen Shields, island resident and IKDT Project Manager says, "With a growing population and eighteen young people on the island, most under age nine, our Development Trust has been working hard for many years to improve facilities. We are overjoyed with this funding and the investment in our community - it will make a big difference to island life and it's very much appreciated."
